One of my favorites

I thought I'd add a happy picture since my last blog was so dark. Maybe our pretty faces will make you smile! This is what D (what I call Dustin for those of you who don't hear me say it constantly) and I chose as our engagement picture back in September of 2006. My dad's good friend Randy took it in my parents' backyard.

A Show Not Worth Watching

As many of you can probably testify to, I don't like the all of the average girly things. I am not into drama (as in with friends, boyfriends, family), I don't like doilies and lace, I didn't play with Barbies unless it involved them having a car for me to use with my Hot Wheels, I don't like fruity drinks, I was never in love with New Kids on the Block, I don't bake cutesy desserts, and I didn't like "The Notebook." So, no one will really be surprised that I decided to watch the prime time drama"Dexter" this past Sunday night. It appeared to be different...something I look for these days when every TV show seems to revolve around the same plot of neighborhood secrets, kids into drugs, and men sleeping around on their wives. Well, it was a little too different!!!!!!

The show is based on a single guy who works forensics, analyzing blood spatter from murder scenes. I get that...hey, I like CSI. What I don't get is the gruesome way in which he himself kills serial killers and how it was encouraged by his foster dad!!! He apparently had a troublesome childhood, though even he doesn't remember. This led to killing neighborhood pets and grew into much, much more. He doesn't even seem to justify his own actions. He has no feelings and acts his way through all interactions with people, even his foster sister who knows nothing of his secret life. To put it not so eloquently, it is messed up!!! I had nightmares. I will never watch this show again and suggest you never do.

Happy Birthday!

Today is Miss Channing Alyssa Parker's first birthday!! The picture above was our first meeting. We may share the same first name, but we could not be more opposite. She is a petite blonde, wearing a size 9 months at one year. I am not so petite and certainly not blonde!

Her party is this weekend in Tyler. I can't wait to take more pictures and see all of the Parkers!

So disturbed...

I have not blogged in quite a while, as upon deciding to start a blog, both of our home computers decided to die. Should I take that as a sign?!?!? Hopefully, we'll have the laptop back this week and I can post pictures and ramble to my heart's content. The PC could not be revived. :(

And now you're wondering why in the world I titled this "So disturbed..." Simply put, I am in shock at Heath Ledger's untimely death yesterday afternoon. I have never been star struck or bought into the worldliness that is Hollywood, so I am not sure where this is coming from. But, in reading about his life and his family, maybe he wasn't as Hollywood as many of his generation. I, of course, do not claim to know much about his personal life, but I do know he chose to live in Brooklyn or SoHo, not L.A. He was constantly pictured with his daughter. He was picky and edgy about the films he chose. He was not in the business purely for the accolades it seems. Also, I am sure that the fact that he is very close to my age is a little unsettling to me.

Truly, I would have been much less surprised had I found the breaking news headline that Britney Spears was found dead. Agree or no? I've heard Heath Ledger smoked like a chimney, but he didn't endanger the life of his child by driving around recklessly, spend time in rehab, or get cosmetic procedures done instead of attending a deposition.

So, enough of my ramblings today. Have a good one!

Dylan Christopher Browning

Ashley gave birth to a healthy baby boy at 7:03 PM last night. It has been such a blessing to be at the hospital for both Dylan and Jake's births. I married into an extremely close, loving family to add to my own.

Welcome one and all....

...to the most boring blog you've seen yet! : ) I promise pictures will be added and all of you will eventually know more about me and my family than you ever wanted to know!

My reason for blogging is to create a little space on the net for those of us who don't have kids to brag about or exciting adventures to share, yet are still pretty dang happy with our little piece of God's earth! : ) You'll find that I love my husband, have the most loving family, have the best friends a girl could ask for, and am obsessed with my dogs...Gracie the Chihuahua and Riley the Chocolate Lab. (Yes, Riley, I still love you even though you tried to destroy my beautiful Christmas tree on Tuesday.)

I am looking forward to a Christmas filled with family...especially Dustin's cousins' new baby boys! Jake was born on my birthday (September 9 in case you missed it!) and Ashley is in labor right now! Little Dylan should be here at any time....yea!!!! As for other family, my brother will be driving in from Denver, and Kate will fly in on the 26th. She has never been to Ft. Worth or Arlington, so I can't wait for her to experience the "culture"!

Dustin and I leave on Dec. 26 for Breckenridge, Colorado with 8 of the friends we are blessed to have. I can't wait to get on a snow mobile!! I know we'll have lots of laughs.

I know you'll await my next blog with eager anticipation. : )
